Subways mapped

Neil Freeman at fakeisthenewreal maps the worlds subway systems on the same scale. Very interesting the see the systems stripped of their geographical context. In most cases, lots, and lots of urban planning went into each line and each system as a whole. Planners needed to take into account population density, physical geography (think mountains, oceans, and other natural barriers), movement patterns (where is the city center?), among other things. But when you look at the maps stripped of all this context they just look like random cracks in the ice on a frozen lake. There is however one feature that is common in nearly all of the subway systems. Can you pick it out? Check out the full map here and post a comment.
