2.5 million data points

Here is a map from Aaron Parecki mapping his location data for three years. Nice looking map and it’s probably worth checking out his mapping software Geoloqi. I’m currently doing this with OpenPaths and my smart phone. Haven’t done anything with the data yet but hopefully I can come up with something interesting. OpenPaths is also cool because you can make your location data available to researchers.

  1. This is pretty awesome. I think that while people are hesitant about the tracking that is done on their phones/mobile devices that the ability to control what happens with the data might put people at more ease. Research-wise we obviously have an enormous amount of selection bias but that may diminish over time if OpenPaths becomes more popular.
